Chibber Review by Tim JeffersonI decided to cover a new band at "The Crown" called Chibber. They're a guitar-based band covering modern rock. They've gigged quite a bit including the prestigious "Brickmaker's" on Sprowston Rd., Norwich as well as things like Wells Carnival. They're currently planning a C.D. to include some of their own material. Their line up is: guitar/vocal,bass/vocal,keyboard/vocal and drums. Like a lot of bands their first set was a little slow for an audience keen to dance but their second set put that straight. They included Fufighters, Cranberries and Snow Patrol as well as old standards by Bad Company, Thin Lizzy and Fleetwood Mac. They played well. They were tight and fun and certainly popular with the crowd. The Keyboard was good. So often rock bands ruin the hard edge of their sound by letting the keyboard do too much. It's rather like looking at a Rottweiler only to realise it's a dressed up French Poodle. The Keyboard player added depth and the correct amount of colour. She was a good singer too. All told I enjoyed their gig and they were a nice bunch. Well worth a look. timjefferson@freeuk.com |
Our first Crown gig. A memorable night. Heaving with appreciative folks all determined to enjoy the evening.
Great to see Terry, Jane & David and Diane, Denise and the Brownshill Posse.
When we first arrived we thought we might get washed away - a fairly high tide, high winds and salty lips. It came to nothing though although we heard the helicopters going overhead once or twice - brave blokes!
Splendid reception for our first ever gig in the Crown and hopefully many to follow.
This was Tracey's last gig before having her baby. I'm sure you'd want to join us in wishing her, Mark and Kaitlyn a smooth delivery - God Bless Trace!
